MEDICAL PEDICURES

Performed by trained podiatrists using medical-grade equipment in a sterile environment, we offer personalised treatments for various foot concerns, including fungal infections, cracked heels, ingrown toenails, and athlete's foot.

The benefit of a medical pedicure is that, in addition to making your feet look and feel great, podiatrists can identify, diagnose, and treat any foot concerns. For instance, if you have an ingrown toenail, we can treat it and prevent it from returning. Podiatrists are qualified to address any foot issues and develop a management plan tailored to your needs.

Podiatrists can also remove calluses and corns using a medical scalpel blade. Unlike traditional nail salons that only shave away the superficial layer of callus, podiatrists ensure thorough removal and use a Moor's disc to smooth the skin.

Another key difference between a medical pedicure and a traditional pedicure is strict adherence to hygiene standards. Podiatrists follow rigorous infection control protocols, sterilizing all instruments with an autoclave and cleaning treatment chairs and surfaces after each client. Traditional nail salons often do not follow these standards, increasing the risk of infection.

Our MediPedis are available for both men and women, with health fund rebates available.

Diabetic Foot Assessments

We evaluate muscle strength and control, check nerve function for pressure, touch, and temperature sensitivity, assess blood flow to your feet and toes, and examine your feet and nails for any deformities or abnormalities.

It is highly recommended that all individuals with diabetes visit a podiatrist at least once a year for a comprehensive foot assessment. Regular assessments are crucial for detecting early changes and preventing complications such as diabetic ulcers, which can have serious health implications if left untreated.

Doppler Assessment of Blood Flow: One of the critical components of a diabetic foot assessment is the Doppler evaluation. This test measures the blood flow to your feet, helping to identify any issues with circulation. Poor blood flow can lead to slow healing wounds and increase the risk of ulcers and infections.

Nerve Sensation Assessment: Another essential part of the assessment is evaluating nerve function. Diabetes can cause neuropathy, leading to a loss of sensation in the feet. This can make it difficult to detect injuries, leading to untreated wounds and further complications. Our podiatrists use various methods to assess nerve health and ensure that any issues are addressed promptly.

Comprehensive Foot Care: In addition to these specific tests, our diabetic foot assessments include a thorough examination of your skin, nails, and overall foot structure. We check for signs of infection, skin changes, and deformities that could contribute to future problems.

Personalised Treatment Plans: Based on the findings from your assessment, we develop a personalised treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. This may include recommendations for proper footwear, guidance on foot care routines, and strategies to improve blood flow and nerve health.

Education and Prevention: We believe in empowering our patients with the knowledge they need to care for their feet effectively. During your assessment, we provide education on recognising warning signs, maintaining good foot hygiene, and managing your diabetes to minimise foot-related risks.

FAQ's
What conditions do podiatrists treat?

Podiatrists treat a range of conditions, including bunions, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, ingrown toenails, diabetic foot issues, and sports injuries.

How often should I see a podiatrist?

It depends on your condition and overall foot health. For general foot care, an annual visit is often recommended, but those with chronic conditions may need more frequent visits.

What are the benefits of seeing a podiatrist regularly?

Regular visits to a podiatrist can help maintain optimal foot health, prevent complications, manage existing conditions effectively, and improve overall comfort and mobility.

Is bulk billing available?

Yes, we offer bulk billing for patients with an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan and a referral from their GP. Eligible patients will not incur any out-of-pocket expenses.

Do you offer custom orthotics?

Yes, we do. We conduct a thorough biomechanical foot assessment to understand your foot type and specific needs. We use a 3D scanner to capture precise measurements and request customised foot orthotics from an orthotic laboratory based in Melbourne, Australia.

We also offer semi-custom orthotics and off-the-shelf orthotics for a more budget friendly option.

How do I know if I need custom orthotics?

Custom orthotics may be recommended if you have persistent foot pain, structural abnormalities, or require specialised support. A podiatrist can assess your needs and determine if custom orthotics are appropriate.

Will the podiatrist recommend specific shoes for me?

Absolutely. Our podiatrists can perform a biomechanical foot assessment to determine your foot type and specific needs. Based on this assessment, they will recommend the shoes that best suit your requirements.

How is a Medical Pedicure (Medi Pedi) assisting my foot health to feel good?

A Medical Pedicure, or Medi Pedi, enhances your foot health in several ways:

General Foot Care: This includes comprehensive nail and skin care using sterilised podiatry medical equipment to ensure hygiene and precision.

Callous and Corn Removal: We effectively remove callouses and corns, which can alleviate pain and discomfort.

Diagnosis of Potential Issues: Our podiatrists can identify potential skin and nail issues early, allowing for timely intervention and treatment.

Do you support home care packages, and what is the process?

Yes, we support home care packages. Our team will assist you through the entire process, ensuring that your specific needs are met and that you receive comprehensive podiatry care at home.

Are your medical practitioners (podiatrists) NDIS screening tested?

Yes, all our podiatrists have completed the NDIS screening test. This means they are fully authorized to provide medical podiatry services to NDIS patients and clients.

Do you offer DVA services, and what is the process?

Yes, we provide DVA podiatry services. To access these services, you need a podiatry referral from your GP. Additionally, our partnered footwear shop, Just Walking, is DVA registered, ensuring a smooth and expedited process.

Do you service children's feet?

Yes, we provide podiatry services for all age groups, including children. If your child has foot or ankle problems requiring professional attention, our medical team is here to help.
